Bear is an adorable moe-inspired character, built around subversively violent tropes. he is a serial killer who manifests into our world through a video game that preys on the curious. his intentions are honest, however. as he does all of this in pursuit of his one true love.

Background

Bear first appeared in the mythos with his starring role in 'DigitaLove', a music video that allows us to witness firsthand how he operates.

the song explores parasocial relationships from the perspective of the obsessed. instead of reinforcing the themes of the song, like little guy and Shanisse, Bear embodies it's antithesis.

he is inspired by the uprise of people seeking to replace human interaction with escapism, though this dynamic is inverted, with Bear being a character from an escapist medium attempting to belong in our reality.

it was important for me to explore all points of view within this specific kind of loneliness, since it resonates across more conventional experiences too. we all desperately want to belong somewhere, or even with just one person. but sometimes this is impossible in ways our own will blinds us from seeing. it's selfish, but not unrelatable.
